Making tax digital
As the deadline date has been delayed once again in late 2022 for making tax digital, it has offered businesses time to draw breath. However, the new deadline will be here before we know it.
What does this mean for you?
Making tax digital is a key part of the government’s future tax administration strategy. It will mean businesses and individuals to keep digital records of their accounts, use software that complies with the Making Tax Digital requirements, and submit quarterly updates (which will bring the tax system closer to real-time).
When are the deadlines?
Any VAT-registered business must keep digital records and file tax returns using compatible software.
If you are self-employed or a landlord, then you will be required to follow the Making Tax Digital requirements for income tax from:
- 6 April 2026 – if you have annual property or business income of more than £50,000
- April 2027 – if you have annual property or business income of more than £30,000
Do you need help preparing your business for the changes? If so, speak to a member of the team today.
